The District

Reno County Education Cooperative is an interlocal school district that provides special education for disabled and gifted students enrolled in five school districts in Reno County, Kansas.  RCEC currently employs approximately one hundred professionals and one hundred fifty paraeducators. The district employs special education teachers, school psychologists, social workers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, speech/language therapists and an audiologist.

The Students

RCEC serves approximately 800 handicapped and gifted students in schools throughout the county. The district provides a complete continuum of special education options for all types of disabled students, birth through twenty-one years of age.

The Community

The community of Hutchinson, Kansas, population approximately 41,085, is located in South Central Kansas where you will enjoy a variety of seasons. A wide array of seasonal sports and recreation is available year round including camping, hiking, golfing on a championship golf course, biking, hunting, water skiing, and fishing. Located in the center of the nation, Hutchinson is near several major metropolitan areas and air travel from Wichita and Kansas City. The internationally famed Cosmosphere and Space Center Museum ( is located adjacent to Hutchinson Community College( The recently opened Kansas Underground Salt Museum is a must see for visitors to the Hutchinson area.  Hutchinson supports the arts through a variety of avenues, including the Hutchinson Symphony, Flag Theater, Community Theater, andChildren’s Theater.
