Intellectually Disabled

Students identified as having a mental handicap that affects their ability to access the general education curriculum are provided service in a variety of ways depending on the student's needs. They may receive service in a regular education classroom with inclusion support, in an interrelated resource room, or in a district-wide self-contained classroom located in a regular education building in one of the school districts affiliated with Reno County Education Cooperative. RCEC teachers provide instruction including curriculum and learning strategies, independent functioning, social/emotional behavior, and communication. They also provide skill development through related services including orientation and mobility, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy
