Hard to believe that we are halfway through another school year. It's amazing how fast this school year has gone by so far. This month, our class outing was to the Cosmosphere to watch The Polar Express. The students did a great job while at the movie and were able to practice appropriate social skills while out in the community. They have been excited about all of the holiday crafts we have been making and can't wait to take their projects home.

Students have also been working hard on their individual goals. Our class just completed a science unit on the work of water. In this unit, students explored how water shapes the Earth's surface. Students constructed and used models of mountains to demonstrate that water flows downhill, and in the process, transforms huge rocks into the tiny grains of sand we find at the beach. Students also constructed and used model hills to determine the causes of erosion, and to design solutions to problems caused by erosion. Our class has started a new unit in Social Studies on Families of Long Ago and Today. In this unit, we will learn some important things about the past, present and future, use pictures, books and artifacts to learn about long ago, learn about life long ago compared to life today, diverse communities, our families and how they are alike and different and cultural traditions. We are looking forward to learning about families around the world and how they have changed over time! I hope everyone has an enjoyable holiday break!
