Our class ended the first half of the school year with some crafts and activities. The students had a great time making crafts to give and with the special activities.
The second half of the school year has begun, and the time is going by quickly. It took some time to get back into the routine of things due to all the weather. Our class just completed the social studies unit on Families, Long Ago and Today. We have started the next science unit on Material Magic. In this unit, students explore the properties of materials and matter! They describe and classify different types of materials by properties like hardness, flexibility, and absorbency, and they investigate how those properties are useful in meeting basic human needs (such as clothing and cooking). They also investigate how heating and cooling affect the properties of materials. We will be going to the Fox Theater on February 12th, to watch Todd Oliver and Irving, The Talking Dog. Todd Oliver is a nationally known ventriloquist and comedian. He is joined onstage by a rotating cast of animal performers and ventriloquist characters. Our class will also be having a Valentine Party at the end of Valentine's Day!
